「學習閱讀」是一個十分有趣的想法,可以說是「學習如何將閱讀變成一種樂趣」;也可以解釋為「如何利用有效閱讀來增進學習效果」,尤其對孩子而言,文字、圖案、顏色、聲音、動畫及互動式的單元內容、活動和遊戲,都能增加學習的豐富感及閱讀的趣味性。

  但對於學習第二語言(ESL)--美語的孩子來說,更應該融入生活、文化和風俗民情,減少語言學習的恐慌及排拒;並非將美語只是當作溝通的工具來學習,強迫記憶生硬的對話和句子,及解釋模糊不清的單字,造成日後學習和溝通的障礙。

  完整的學習教材,應含括自然的、社會的、數學的、趣味的,讓美語學習生活化、口語化、提高孩子學習的興趣和對各種事物的好奇心,降低學習第二語言(ESL)的困難,增加學習熱忱並健全孩子的發展給予正確的觀念,讓學習不僅限於語言,而是全方位的幼兒人格培養過程。

有鑑於此,在考量學習的課程內容時,我們規劃如下:

"Learning reading" is an interesting idea, which can mean, "learning how interesting it is to read". On the other hand, it can also be explained as "How to improve the effectiveness of learning by efficient reading." Words, pictures, colors, voice, animation and interactional activities and games can increase the interest in (and enjoyment of) learning.

English should not be used as a conversation tool only. Language should be learned through life, culture and customs, especially for those children who learn English as a second language. Forcing them to remember vocabulary, or using unclear explanations, can only create a barrier to learning English.

The complete teaching materials should also include: nature studies, science and math so that an interest in English can be created which makes the learning more alive and verbal, enhances the learning interest and makes the student curious to know more English. The goal is also to decrease learning difficulty, to increase learning passion and to allow the children to develop their own personalities.
